New Fountain Pen

Pilor Elite 95s

Pilot Elite 95s

I have a new fountain pen called a Pilot Elite 95 s. I fell in love with this pen the first time I noticed it over a year ago. Pilot’s Elite S fountain pen was first introduced in 1968 and enjoyed great popularity especially as a wonderful gift for celebrating school admittance or a new job. The Elite 95S is based on the 2nd-generation Elite S from 1975, and mirrors the vintage feel of a pen from those times.

It has a retro style look I like. The 14K gold nib gives the pen a classy intriguing look and is a smooth writing instrument. When capped, it’s short and lightweight at 15 grams. When the cap is posted, the pen’s standard length makes it comfortable for writing. It comes in a solid black with gold trim and a burgundy body with a gold cap. I’m loving it!

Sweet Sinsations

Sweet Sensations

Sweet Sinsations

There are four coffee shops, that I’m aware of, on the campus at Colorado State University. There are several off campus catering to the thousands of students pulling all-nighters. One I patronize is located in the Lory Student Center call Sweet Sinsations Cafe. Of course all you will find are students working the coffee shop and students grabbing a cup on their way to class. And it is cold this morning, 22 degrees right now.

Being a Regular

Mocha latte at the Bean Cycle. I’m in the loft looking down on the coffeehouse.

I can walk into several coffeehouses and be greeted by my first name. That feels good. 🙂 I also know several of them by name. At some locations I can even have the baristas call out and say, ‘The usual, Monte?” These young people and the coffeehouse can easily become an extended family. We will almost always have some sort of conversation whether started by them or me, asking questions such as, “How was your weekend?” or “What have you planned for the day?” I find it comforting  when they let me know I’m a person and not just a customer with money in his wallet.  Continue reading »

Busy Bee

Since I was early to meet a friend at a local coffeehouse called the Wild Boar, I took a walk across the street to the CSU Experimental Gardens. Look what I found! 🙂

Linden Street Cafe

Morning Shadows

Morning Shadows

This was taken last week when I met a friend at the Linden Street Cafe in Old Town Fort Collins. We were not sitting at this table but loved the light so grabbed my journal and pen to setup this scene. Would have been a sweet place to journal.

It had been a while since I’d been here. The place is under new ownership and has had some new touches added. I liked it.
