    Playing the piano

    Playing the Piano
    Playing the Piano

There is a piano outside in the lobby of the Lory Student Center theater for people to play. It seems to me I almost always see and hear someone playing. I find it interesting to see these young people sit down and play. Some are dressed poorly, some carry a backpack of books and are using this time to relax between classes. And, the talent is wonderful. There were no words said between us as I just walked around him composing images. He sang one song and actually brought tears to my eyes. Thankful for autofocus.

P.S. And, the snow began falling around 2:00 pm, just as perdicted. They say 14 inches. Sigh!

    I’ll do it later….

Yeah right! “Later” sometimes means never.

Before I left my home this morning I checked my calendar. Something inside me was telling me I was to meet someone but there was nothing in the calendar. So, I jumped on the bus, headed to campus and camped in a comfy chair in the Lory Student Center for some reading and writing. A little after 9:00 I received a message from Eric wanting to know if we were still meeting at 9:00. Dang it! It was another instance where I told myself over a week ago that I’d do it later but later turned into never. It really is true that life is about the process, never being prefect but hopefully learning from these experiences. Again, hoping all my friends on the east coast are safe!

    Morning Haze

    Sunrise at Colorado State University
    Sunrise at Colorado State University

We have felt the impact from the forest fires over the past couple of weeks. At the present time we have 11 active forest fires in Colorado, 3 in Utah, 9 in Arizona, 15 in California, 33 in Idaho and Montana, and others burning in Oregon and Washington. So, the smoke has been ever present making our sky hazy and sunrises and sunsets take on a different and eerie look and feel. We are unable to see our beautiful mountains. Sunday was a windy day with gusts up to 30 mph but by Monday morning the haze was back. It is sad because of the destruction to our landscape and peoples homes and unfortunately some lost lives.

    Brrrr

    CSU Oval
    CSU Oval

We awoke to light snow yesterday morning then watched it increase to a beautiful winter snowfall. I left home early to find a spot near a window at Mugs coffeehouse to watch it snow. Glad I did. When I left an hour and a half later I walked across the street to the oval on campus for this image. Very few people were out due to the weather and it was Martin Luther King Day so there were almost no tracks in the snow. It stayed cold all day even though the sun came out in the afternoon. It was 2 degrees at 6:30 this morning. Brrrr!

    Places for Study

    Morgan Library
    Morgan Library

Lory Student Center provides a place to eat, lounge, 3 coffee shops, book store and places to study for the students. This is one of those small alcoves with chairs and couches for study time. I am standing at directly behind a couch with one student stretched out and sleeping. 🙂

    More Snow

    Stairs at Morgan Library
    Stairs at Morgan Library

It is Friday morning about 7:30 am and sitting at a computer on campus at Morgan Library. Yes, I have a mocha in hand from Morgans Grind, the coffee shop located in the library. 🙂 A light snow is falling and has been, with mixed rain, since Thursday night. We have received about 2-3 inches of snow but with lots of moisture. Winter is still with us in Colorado.

As I walked from the bus stop to the library I noticed a student riding their bicycle in this 20 degree weather without gloves. How do they do that? Anyway, back to the weather. They are predicting lows for the next two nights somewhere from the single digits to mid teens. Time to make chili again and check on airfare to Phoenix. Stay warm and enjoy the weekend!
