    A Prayer

“May I have the courage today
To live the life that I would love,
To postpone my dream no longer
But do at last what I came here for
And waste my heart on fear no more.”

    John O’Donohue

This image was taken back in May. There is something about this tree that keeps me coming back to visit. Wonder if it’s the solitude this tree lives plus the courage to live the life it’s called to live. I also wonder how many of us have failed to live the life we would love.

    Lift Off

While driving along Weld County Road 13 this evening I encountered hundreds of Canada Geese in this massive cut corn field. As I crested this small hill many of them took to the air. I stopped and got off four shots before it was all over. I missed the best part. When you enlarge the image you can see hundreds more of the geese still on the ground. There are also three goose blinds made of bales of hay. So, I figure the farmer is making a few dollars from the hunters. It was also quite noisy when they lifted off.

Today was a lovely day, blue skies and sunshine. The wind began to blow this afternoon and you can see the clouds building up over the mountains. Always a good indication that something is in the air; snow tomorrow night. Have a great weekend!

    Saddens me…

Open field at Shields and Stuart.

This is an open lot about two blocks from my condo. I am standing along Shields Street and looking east. I’ve taken a few images of sunrises from this location. However, that will change over the next couple years as they sent notice that they will be building an apartment complex and small convenience store in this field. There are people who call it growth, development, progress, because it is about money to them. I want to call it destruction. Saddens me to see areas like this within the city changed from a natural world to concrete and wood structures surrounded by asphalt!

    It’s the Walk

    Sunset Walk
    Sunset Walk

On my walk through the Fisher Nature area I cross an open field of knee high tall bluestem grass. I tickles my bare legs as I walk through the grass. Every once in a while I’ll startle, and be startled, by a field mouse or notice a fox watching me. Butterflies follow along and of course the birds let me know with their song how much they enjoy the meadow and surrounding trees. I also believe their song is my invitation to enjoy the medow along with them. Of course, I’m always enjoying the light cast across the field. No matter how many photos I have of that field I’ve never really been satisfied with the images I bring home. Yet, I will continue to carry my camera and take photos as I walk through the field. The walk is what it’s about, anyway.
