    The Scooter

    The Scooter

I bought a new, and larger, disc drive so I’ve been moving images to the new drive.  It’s allowing me to go wander through the archives and what fun it is. I’m finding it interesting how I’m noticing images I don’t even remember taking.  Once I see the image, my mind goes back to those moments. The above image was taken in the French Quarters in New Orleans. I remember seeing three people, just to the right, sitting at a table outside of a restaurant. I can even hear them laughing. And, I have no recollection of the purple wall, that one really surprised me. Kinda cool!

I start a 4 day trip on Saturday morning and hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend!

    Something Different

    Ready for sampling

We had a short overnight in New Orleans, arriving late and leaving around noon. It is hot and muggy but I managed to get out and take a walk along Veterans Blvd. This walk takes me passed the past the Chez Pierre pastry shop I visited back in June. On that visit I enjoyed the artistry of the baker and sampled one of their works of art. I stopped in again, chatted with the same lady as before and tried something new. Again, I was pleased.

    Still working on it

I took it back to my hotel room since the shop is just around the corner. It will be my lunch today. 🙂

    It's Gone!

The deed it done! You know there are simple pleasures in life. I experienced one yesterday morning.

    Fried

    Lake Pontchartrain

As I write this post my mind is fried. Not much seems to be between the ears this evening. Every once in a while I slide into one of these places where fatigue and confusion seem to rule. Anyway I wanted to post something. This was taken back in 2007 along the shore of Lake Pontchartrain in New Orleans. Coleen,a fellow photographer from the pbase website, picked me up at my hotel and took me to a park along the lade for some sunset photos.

    Shrimp and Craw Fish

    Mawsers

When I think of New Orleans I think of Gulf Coast, Lake Pontchartrain, levees, the French Quarter, Mardi Gras and good food. Near our hotel is a restaurant called Johnny Trauths where I have been tempted with both shrimp and crawfish. On my first visit to the restaurant I quickly weakened and ordered a pound of boiled shrimp with no regrets. Now when I think of New Orleans I think of that plate piled high with boiled shrimp and the boiled red potatoes and corn on the cob. Last week during one of our overnights, I walked over to dine again. I noticed these posts with the mooring lines, or mawsers as they are sometimes called, along the outside of the restaurant. I liked the patterns and the late afternoon light, so took I took this shot.
