    Sacred Bond

Setting sun at Rowland Moore Park – 2017

Knowing that you love the earth changes you, activates you to defend and protect and celebrate. But when you feel that the earth loves you in return, that feeling transforms the relationship from a one-way street into a sacred bond.

    I’m ready now…

A favorite cottonwood tree along FIsher Nature area leading to Rowland Moore Park. I often find Red-tailed hawks perched in it.

I have been pretty good about taking my camera for daily walks during this stay-at-home order. Even got in the walks the past two days when it was snowing and cold, admittedly shorter. And the weather forecasters are telling us more snow, 3-8 inches, by Thursday. Enough already. Bring on spring, rain, thunderstorms, flowers, weeds and sunny walks. I’m ready now!

    Everything is in Movement

I go and get the camera and do it. Photography is a medium in which if you don’t do it then, very often you don’t do it at all, because it doesn’t happen twice. A rock will probably always be more or less there just the way you saw it yesterday. But other things change, they’re not always there the day after or the week after. Either you do it or you don’t. Certainly with things as changeable as sky and landscape with moving clouds and so on, if they look wonderful to you on a certain day and if you don’t do it then, you may never see them again for the rest of your life. So as a photographer you become very conscious – at least I do – that everything is in movement. – Paul Strand

    Cold, Foggy and Wet

It is a cold, foggy and wet morning. It would be a good morning to sleep in, buried under a mountain of warm covers. It sure does have a different feel than yesterday morning. This is Rowland Moore Park again because it is close to my home, within walking distance.

Now that my cardiac rehab is finished I need to make sure I get in my walking with my own discipline and accountability. Now at the Bean Cycle for my cortado and conversation with the older retired guys.

    Spring Morning in Fort Collins

Here are a couple of images from Rowland Moore Park taken about 7:30 this morning. I will guess we have 4-6 inches of snow from this storm. While wandering around the park this morning I was surprised with how much water is flowing into the ponds. They will be full before this day is over. Thankfully we are not cold and therefore it will melt quickly and give us much needed moisture. One weather station said we have 3.8 inches.

It is time for my yearly physical and I also need one before the cataract surgery. So, that will happen this morning. No coffee or food for right now. Stay warm!

    This Mocha Hits the Spot

My car dashboard said 2 degrees. There was not doubt in my mind it was accurate. Never the less I drove over to Rowland Moore Park to look for snow scenes and then find a local coffee shop. I am one who enjoys the beauty of a white wonderland, especially a fresh snowfall, but without the cold temperatures. This storm brought us at least 6 inches of snow here in Fort Collins and the cold temperatures. I understand some of the mountain areas were expecting up 30 inches. That’s good news for farmers and Phoenix and Las Vegas. Right now we have a blue sky trying to make it’s appearance which adds to the beauty. And, this mocha hits the spot!

    More Cold Ahead

    Frost in Rolland Moore Park

I took this image this past Monday around 10:00 am. I was standing in the parking lot of the Senior Center and looking out over the south edges of Rowland Moore park. When I awoke we had fog and this heavy frost settling in on everything. Quite interesting to watch the frost form on the trees. Nature sure does know how to create some wonderful scenes and with a purpose behind them.

It’s going to be cold the next 4-5 days, getting down to zero on Sunday night. Looks like winter is not ready to let go or spring is not yet to make it’s appearance. When looking at the national weather it looks like that is true for much of our nation.

Now typing this on a new MacBook Pro. I will write about the purchase a bit later as I get more familiar with it. When I looked up the receipt for my old MacBook, the purchase date was November of 2008. It paid for itself. I’m expecting this one to do the same! Now with this purchase you should see a slight improvement in my photography. 🙂
