    One of my neighbors

    Good Morning

A morning walk around my pond with latte in hand is a good way to meet the neighbors. If I haven’t mentioned it before, my condo is about six blocks from Colorado State University so I do have a wide assortment of students and with almost yearly changes. Other neighbors include way too many Canadian Geese, every so often a fox, raccoons, herons fishing in the pond and every once in a while a deer. I tried to start up a conversation with this guy (or gal) but quickly found they were on the quiet side, a quality I like in a neighbor.

    Saturday Sunrise

    Sunrise

This past Saturday was a busy day. I drove out east for a few photos, replaced the garbage disposal, finished laundry and packed for my trip, that I’m now on. I also visited the farmers market mentioned yesterday. It was a good Saturday!

    Farmers Market

    Saturdays Dinner

Spent some time wandering through the Drake Farmers Market yesterday morning. Took a few images and sampled almost everything they had, that way I did not have to eat lunch, but dinner, well that was different story. 🙂

I enjoy these community events. You can actually talk to the person who made the product which could include growing the vegetables in their own garden, harvesting them, caning them and using their own special recipe. And, as I mentioned above, you can sample the product before buying. I found a couple of things I just had to buy and made my dinner with them last night.

    We Need the Rain

    High Park Fire

I apologize for the quality of this image but I want to post it anyway. It is my attempt at showing the size of this fire. I am probably 20-25 miles from the High Park Fire that has been burning since last Saturday morning. It is located just west of Fort Collins along the foothills. Here is a bit of information about the fire. The fire is burning and has burned all the area from about an inch on either side of this image. Here is a link to some better images.

The fire has now burned 52,000 acres. They are using nine helicopters and fixed-winged aircraft and over 1,300 fire fighters along with the help of the National Guard. Over 100 structures have burned – 48 of those being hones. In the above image you can see rain clouds on the left. However, this thunder cell created downdrafts, not rain, which stirred up embers that jumped the Poudre River at Stevens Gulch and is heading towards the Glacier View Meadows Neighborhood. Not good. We so need the rain!

    Sitting on the Fence

    Lark Bunting

One of my ways to get away from the hustle of the city it to drive out of town and find some secluded place to enjoy. The songs birds offer me are soothing to my soul and help bring calming. So sometimes I will just stop along a country dirt road and just listen.
