    Reflections

We don’t change as we get older – we just get to be more of what we’ve always been.

    Joan D. Chittister

I took this on my ride home from coffee along Spring Creek Trail this morning. Saw the reflections and had to stop and turn around! There are not that many places along the trail where you can take a photo without the sign of man intruding. Did my best to crop out the buildings but you can see the reflection of them in the creek. We are expecting this lovely sunshine to become rain later this afternoon and into tomorrow. Would love to see the moisture. I hope you have a great day!

    The mystic knows…

    Lets me know I’m loved

The mystic knows that what really matters is the inner connection of the heart in which our heart opens and cries. It is something so simple and yet so easily overlooked. Prayer is a way to be with God.

    Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee

It was 37 degrees and 82% humidity when I rode to coffee life this morning. Needless to say it was also cold coming home but so invigorating. My barista, Winter, made me a lovely heart this morning on my Old Town Mocha, and lets me know I’m loved.

    seeing miracles…

“The more you turn inward, the more available the sacred becomes. When you sit in silence and turn your gaze toward the holy mystery you once called God, the mystery follows you back out into the world. When you walk with purposeful focus on breath and birdsong, your breathing and the twitter of the chickadee reveal themselves as miracles…”

    Reflections at Riverbend

Awoke to overcast skies, 100% humidity that you could cut with a butterknife and an overall gloomy feel. I also felt tired and didn’t want to get out of my warm bed. But, after crawling out from under my covers, making a trip to the bathroom, making my bed, I enjoyed my meditation time. As with most Saturday mornings I drove to Windsor to meet Eric for coffee and conversation. Makes my Saturdays special! I stopped at Riverbend Ponds on the way back to capture some of the overcast skies and the reflections.

Speaking of reflections, I was reflecting on my drive how much of our society wants to spend today the money from next week’s paycheck. That’s how I thought even 50 years ago. I always assumed that paycheck would be there but there was no guarantee then or now. I sure think differently today. I’ve discovered life is much simpler when I can live in the present and that includes spending only the money I presently have or don’t have. Back then I also believed that if money was short in my budget that my solution was to make more money rather than reduce my expenses. I sure think differently today. Have a wonderful weekend.

    He Inspires Me

I attended a wonderful program last night at CSU. A friend and fellow coffee shop regular, John Barnhardt, told his story of his 27 years as a cinematographer. He shared how he has wanted to make movies since he was about 9 years old. Through hard work and dedication he has/is achieving that dream, which includes winning an Emmy for some of his work. I was impressed with his openness and his vulnerability in telling his a story. I left inspired by his story, the journey he has taken, the challenges he has faced, developing his talents and gifts as a photographer and cinematographer, and how he inspires the students at CSU to believe in themselves and work towards their passions, finding their purpose, and offering their creativity to the world. I encourage you to check out his website.

    Early morning sunrise…

I do not think the measure of a civilization is how tall its buildings of concrete are, but rather how well its people have learned to relate to their environment and fellow man.

    Sun Bear, Chippewa

I feel there is a lot of truth in the above quote. It seems our society still has not learned how to relate to the environment or our fellow man. May you have a wonderful week!
