    Yesterday’s storm has passed

    Snow clinging to branches

Blue skies and sunshine bring their warmth this morning.
I see tree branches bending over under the snow’s burden
I watch as the sun’s warmth weaken the snow’s grip,
causing small glistening snowstorms to flutter downward.

I check on the nesting geese, standing on my toes to look in
They stretch their necks to check on my presence. All’s well.
Looking up, the sky seems bluer, no contrails, less pollution.
I listen to the quiet, the music that soothes this soul.

I’m filled with gratitude for this wonderful world
and the gift of being present, a part of all this beauty.

    I’m okay with a dirty car…

Beautiful clouds in the eastern sky along Weld County Road 90

When I’m restless it usually means I need to get out of town, so I did. I have been doing a lot of reading lately and some has been heavy stuff. I headed east to favorite spot along Weld County Road 90, turned the car off and just listened. Total quiet. Ahhh! I could feel the change within my soul. About the only sound I heard was the wind and a few Canada Geese as they passed overhead.  Healing was taking place. Seems I am needing more of the quiet and for longer periods of time.

The roads however were muddy which means my car is now dirty. Actually, I think a car needs to be dirty and I do not say that because I’m lazy. Ironically, as I drove out there I passed one of the car washes and there must have been 20-30 cars in line. I questioned in my mind the need for them to waste good water. Yes, I’m okay with a dirty car.

    Fall Colors in Poudre Canyon

Aspens and blue skies near Chambers Lake in the Poudre Canyon

Well, I believe Tom and Kathy are on their way to Wyoming continuing their adventure in visiting all 50 states. Yesterday we drove up the Poudre Canyon almost to Cameron Pass in search for aspens and the fall colors. We had a beautiful day. We were not disappointed. And, I did my best to be a bad influence and talked them into eating blueberry pie and ice cream at the Glen Echo Resort in Rustic. Enjoyed the visit and hope you enjoy the rest of your trip. Drive safely!

    Order and Chaos

Nature creates with chaos and man creates with order, or so it seems. Both make use of lines and curves to create. Architecture feels mostly ordered, static and has a rigid feeling to it. Nature feels more flexible, relaxed, in constant movement, never static and is free flowing.

I leave in the morning for my sabbatical to spend time in reading, writing, studying, prayer/meditation, quiet, learning to listen to the other within me. I have been uncovering, discovering, discarding the stinking thinking I had about myself and the world around me. Hoping this time with others on similar paths will continue in that process. Nervous and yet excited. What will I discover? I’m heading into this with as much openness as I am capable of. Yesterday was my 69th birthday so this is like a gift I’m giving to myself.

I do not expect to post much or read many of your amazing posts but will check whenever I can. They have a couple of computer on site for checking email so what access to the internet will be with my phone’s cellular data or some coffee shop I may find on a weekend. I’m actually looking forward to some time away from the internet, much like our friend Cedric just had for 2 months. I’m aware I spend too much time on it. See ya later.

    Yes, Bluer is a Word

Blue Skies over the CSU Soccer Practice Field

I love blue skies! So, after getting off the bus and walking to Morgan Library on Colorado State University campus I had to smile and point my camera to the northern skies. I find this time of the year to be a favorite. We begin to have cooler temperatures making for a better night of sleep and refreshing mornings. And, I think the blue skies are bluer! 🙂

    Along the Rivers Edge

Poudre River at North Shields Ponds trail.
Poudre River at North Shields Ponds trail.

Instead of taking my walk around the block I headed to the North Shields Ponds nature area. The Poudre River runs along the nature area and this is where I stopped and sat along the rivers edge. The clear skies made for wonderful fall colors. The soft sound of the gentle flow of the river was soothing. A good way to start the day.
