Street scene on my walk home from coffee

So, the question is multiple choice. Were the boots left on the porch because they were.:
    a. wet.
    b. muddy
    c. rank as hell
    d. All the above.

I was awakened about 4:00 am by the lovely sound of rain tapping on my bedroom window. Weather app says we can expect rain throughout the day and cooler temperatures. May you have a wonderful day!

    … make mistakes

    The Porch

“We all remain who we are. But on the way to healing or liberation we have to do what the Romans called agere contra: we have to act against the grain of our natural compulsions. This requires clear decisions. Because it does not happen by itself, it is in a way “unnatural” or “supernatural” . . . (we) simply have to cut loose now and then, and in the process . . . make mistakes.”
    — Richard Rohr

I have read several posts over the past 3-4 months about making mistakes and I know that’s not a mistake. A couple days ago I headed to Blendon Woods Park in pursuit of a colorful sunset with gorgeous clouds almost like the clouds Jeff Lynch found in Texas or the clouds Sabrina found in Afica. However, I was greeted with a cloudless sky, high humidity and a squadron of mosquitos with full intent on sucking me dry. I gave it a try and shot about 50 frames, of mistakes.

A few days ago I posted an image of a door and window against a bright blue wall (with all it’s mistakes) and asked for input. And, I got the responses I needed. Thanks to all of you. I enjoy my mistakes. Actually some of them turn out pretty nice. Each time I look at my images in Lightroom I see the little things I can do next time to improve.

Bad Coffee but a Warm Sun

    Bad Coffee
    Bad Coffee

After breakfast I moved outside to the east porch to sit in the sun. A few small clouds moved across the sky creating a beautiful pattern of blue and white. The hotel coffee I was drinking was not that good but the warmth of the sun all that I really needed. The pure white railing on the porch made for a wonderful pattern so I did the best I could to capture what I felt that morning. I have been looking at my histogram a bit differently lately and moving farther to the right on my images. I do feel it has the potential to provide for more data in post processing.

    Pick a Chair

    Painted Chairs
    Painted Chairs

While walking the streets in Westerville, Ohio, I discovered these chairs on a porch at a small shop. Colorful and eye-catching I raised up my camera to capture in pixels what I saw and felt. But what did these eclectic chairs on this porch lead to?

Ironically the shop is called Serendipity. At first I thought it was a coffee shop but they were advertising ice cream sundaes. After walking inside I discovered it’s an older home where they have converted the different rooms into small coves with tables and chairs. People can come in find a table in a corner that suits them for study time, after all it is a college town, or read a book, or write in their journal or share an intimate conversation. For any of you couch potatoes, you could sink into the couch located in a back room and watch CNN on a flat screen TV. Weather permitting you may want to grab one of the tables on the patio or you could pick one of the brightly painted chairs on the front porch and stare at strangers as they walk by.

I met the owners, a husband and wife team, who hire the college students to help in the shop. I would use the words friendly, outgoing, energetic, to describe them. From the description above you may think I’m describing a coffee shop but it is more than that. They served a little bit of everything including sandwiches, fries, soups, salads, ice cream, malts and coffees. Did I mention ice cream? Their ambiance was inviting enough that I’ll go back sometime and try one of their paninis or a sundae or a salad or a bowl of soup or a quesadilla or a cappuccino or a……
