    One With Everything

“Wherever you are, you are one with the clouds and one with the sun and the stars you see. You are one with everything. That is more true than I can say, and more true than you can hear.”

    Shunryu Suzuki

Light rain moved into the area yesterday afternoon and is hanging out along the front range. Snow is falling in the high country. We need it all. I have friends living in a Class A RV who arrived in Estes Park earlier in the week. They could see as much as a foot of snow up there. The rain has been gentle and refreshing, the best kind to recieve. Just before the rain began I spent some time journaling at Reservoir Ridge. Before I left the clouds began to build up produce lightning and thunder then rain. The rain has been steady every since.

A dark bank of clouds looking like they were full of rain sat on the eastern horizon on my drive to meet Eric for coffee and conversation this morning. It was another reason to stop the car and stand in the rain for a few minutes. Our forecast is to see this all day. So it’s a day to stay inside sit back in a comfy chair, read, journal and binge on some unhealthy snacks (chips, cookies, chocolates).

    Passing Storm

Passing storm at Reservoir Ridge Natural Area

This image was taken last night as a nice rain storm was developing in the west. I could see the rain falling in the foothills so I drove out to the natural area. This allowed me to participate in the storm as it built up with wind, lightning, thunder and then the gentle rain. The image is a raw file using Adobe Landscape profile in Lightroom Classic.

I’m pleased with how solid the camera feels in my hands. The size and build are the draw even though there is a small weight increase. Also impressed with how snappy and quiet it can focus, which I would expect. The joystick is a joy!! I was pretty sure that it was going to be something I’d like.

I must admit I was overwhelmed when I first started reading the manual, even questioning my decision. There seemed so much to learn. I could not believe all the information provided in the viewfinder, to the point of almost forgetting to look at the subject when I first used it. But that has quickly died down by practicing with it. It will become second nature.

I’ve only shot with raw files so still need to look at the jpeg files. The raw files are Huge! I’ve gone from about 30 meg to 50 meg, an increase of 30%. Glad I upgraded to the 4TB drives a few months ago. I imagine I will be deleting more images because of their size.

    Rain Showers on the Horizon

Rain Showers in the Foothills, Colorado

Nature supplied me with this scene along Weld County Road 13 this past weekend. We have had rain almost every day and the next two days are expected to be more of the same. My car was a mess as the roads were muddy but man, those fields are green.

I have a couple of questions for all my WordPress Gurus out there.

    1. I seem to have lost the capability to have the viewer click on the image to view a full size image. I’ve discovered I can set the image to link to the media file but this seems to give me two larger files. Any ideas?
    2. Second is my image caption. I cannot seem to change the image caption font color. At the present time it is almost the same color as my background. See the above image.

    Passing Storm

    Passing Storm
    Passing Storm

When the restless, irritable, discontent feelings sweep over me I know it’s time to find some quiet. I can find that by driving out east and finding some country dirt road to walk along. I have found a spot just into Weld County near the intersection of County Rd 90 and County Rd 13. This is a large hill that looks out to the west and north into the lower valley. The Colorado Front Range will be in any image you bring home. There were a few small storms along the front range. This one is the to the north and there was one behind me to the south. Tom and Kathy will probably recognize this view as they have been there. I enjoyed the quiet here, listening only to the low grumbling of thunder associated with the storm.
