    Predawn Twilight

Predawn light at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal in 2011

“The most beautiful thing in the world is, of course, the world itself.”

    Wallace Stevens

Sun has just set. Weather app says snow will begin after midnight and into tomorrow with 2-6 inches. Road conditions will not be good for commuters tomorrow morning or evening. This image was taken 11 eleven years ago at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal. I enjoyed going to this area for morning quiet time and photographs. Because of the reflection on those calm waters I was gifted with two views of this beautiful world that particular morning.

    Another Sunrise

    What’s broken can be mended.
    What hurts can be healed.
And no matter how dark it gets,
The sun is going to rise again.

Well, back to another sunrise. Took this image yesterday but this one is a bit different. I arrived at predawn when the sky was pink and took a few images of those colors. It was 18 degrees and a slight breeze from the northwest. What is different about this image is the young lady located in the lower left corner of the image. She is sitting on a small bench at the trailhead, wrapped in a blanket and sipping on a thermos of hot coffee or maybe tea. I was there about 45 minutes and she was there when I arrived, sitting on that bench the whole time. We watched this lovely sunrise as well as seeing a couple coyotes walk across the frozen reservoir in search of food. We did not talk. Not sure the reason she needed to be there but for me nature is a place to go when I need to find healing, answers, peace, serenity, silence, a boost, even a good cry and most often the need to slow down the chatter of my thinking. It had warmed up to 19 degrees by the time she left. I departed soon after. We’re expecting light snow today so right now it is overcast and windy. Happy Friday!

    Pre-dawn Colors

Sunrise ar Arapaho Bend Natural Area
“Take a break to listen to the song of the wind, talk to the whispering trees, feel the love of flowers, dance with the dancing leaves, and enjoy the tranquility and serenity of nature.” Debasish Mridha
This a pre-dawn shot of the Arapaho Bend Natural Area where nature gifted us with a palette of pastel colors before the sun rises. Hope you have a tranquil and serene day!

    First Day of Spring

Today is the first day of Spring. To celebrate and because I woke up early, I made a french press of coffee and headed to Arapaho Bend Natural Area. I setup my gear along the banks of Beaver Pond looking east. Behind me in the west was the setting Supermoon. The night ends and the new day begins. Spring! Beautiful!

Canada Geese were out for their morning swim, searching for a bite to eat and noisily enjoying the spring morning. For me it was an almost perfect way to start the day and the beginning of Spring.

After feeling I had all I wanted in images I loaded my gear back in the car to head home. As I started to put the key in the ignition I noticed a man on a paddle board of some kind and quickly jumped out of the car and took this last image. I thought it an appropriate photo to end my morning on the banks of Beaver Pond in the Arapaho Bend Natural Area.
