Always Alert

the antelope grazes
in a golden field of grass
yet always alert

ms

On my drive the other afternoon I came across four antelope enjoying the warmth of the sun while grazing. I stopped and watched them, aware they were watching me. With respect we kept our distance of more than six feet. Have a super weekend!

Retired. Having fun with photography. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku. Have a love for fountain pens.

We saw antelope for the first time out there and in Wyoming, and I remember how they were very aware and watchful, even from a distance.

That guy does look a little chubby compared to ones we saw. Maybe he’s suffering from pandemic-related binge eating and too much Netflix. 😉 Or maybe just preparing for winter.

I would say “pandemic-related binge eating” is the cause. These antelope are grazing in farmers fields so they have a different diet than whose on the sagebrush lands of Wyoming. It is not unusual to see several of them gathered around and irrigation circle of alfalfa. And, still a ways from man.
