Another Sunset

Tonight’s sunset

“We desperately need to retrieve our capacity for reverence. Each day that is given to you is full of the shy graciousness of divine tenderness. It is a lovely practice at night to spend a little time while revisiting the invisible sanctuaries of your lived day. Each day is a secret story woven around the radiant heart of wonder. We let our days fall away like empty shells and miss all the treasures.” John O’Donohue

Sorry for posting another sunset. I’m almost 70 and for as long as I can remember we  seem to have one every day. Figured I might as well take advantage of them while I can. I just stood in awe and reverence this evening, taking in deep breaths, and grateful I didn’t miss this treasure.

Retired. Having fun with photography. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku. Have a love for fountain pens.

Monte, I’ll never be disappointed with the posting of sunsets or sunrises photos, no matter what age I’m at. They happen every day but each one almost seems like a miracle doesn’t it?

Yes, a miracle, a unique gift and has a way of touching us somewhere inside. Overcast skies this morning, maybe some rain. Have a great day, my friend!

Sunrise and sunsets are wonderful times of the day. One arouses the senses to the excitement of a new day, the other allows for contemplation and gratitude. And both offer unguarded, flawless beauty. As you say Monte, a unique gift. No need to apologise for posting photos of these moments 🙂

I often dismiss photographing sunrises and sunsets as being “cliches,” but as experiences they are hard to top. Sunrises especially, as it is more of a wild card as to what you will get. Nothing wrong with a great sunset, either! 😉 Definitely a gift to be received with appreciation.

I agree the sunrises are wild cards. I remember a morning when I awoke early and drove several miles for a sunrise I envisioned in my mind only to find the sun was rising behind a hill due to the seasonal location of the sun. I now know better.

I’m always glad to see a sunrise/sunset, whether in a photo or in person. Each is a gift. This is a beauty, Monte.
