Cookie Thief

Caught with the evidence

I bought a package of those Chips Ahoy cookies the other day. After about 3 days I noticed they were disappearing waaaayyyy to quickly and suspected a cookie thief. I setup a surveillance camera in an effort to catch the thief. As can been seen in the above image I’ve caught the thief with the cookies in hand. Now I need your help. Are there any suggestions for appropriate punishment and to prevent it from happening again as I still have cookies left. Rehabilitation is probably needed! I’m also wondering if this could be the same cookie thief I had in my last apartment. Hope he doesn’t find out about my stash of Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia ice cream. 🙂

All I could recommend is to make sure there is milk in the fridge otherwise if the thief starts choking from lack of liquid, in this day and age you could get sued for not providing adequate accompaniments due the neglect of not properly storing what should be a controlled substance.

Or, you could keep t hem under your pillow so if they try to steal them it will awaken you to the dastardly deed.

I wouldn’t recommend the under the pillow tactic since one nevers knows when one might snack in one’s sleep. I have heard that it is at least as common as sleepwalking. The milk in the fridge idea, however, would be excellent protection. Anyone who would steal a man’s cookies might be prone to sue.

Speaking from experience, rehabilitation doesn’t work for these hardened criminals. And there is no appropriate punishment for cookie thieves. I recommend 24 hour armed guards and increased security around the perimeter. And throw in a package of Orios to keep the others company.

I suspect that he has followed you from your old apartment. There is no reforming these particular type of criminals. I know from first-hand experience. The best thing to do to thwart this criminal is to not bring the goods into the house!

You are so smart, Paul. If there is nothing to take then there is no crime. So, does that mean I need to eat the cookies all in one sitting? Wonder if they make smaller bags.

Monte, I’ve given up trying to stop this type of illicit activity and now feel it a small victory if I can limit his take to just a few at a time.

I also notice that when I travel nothing disappears. So it looks like I need to keep the cookies in a safe, hire 24 hour armed guards, have milk available in the refrigerator (maybe even chocolate milk). 🙂
