Meadow of Gold

Sadly this image shows the smoky haze sitting along the Colorado Front Range from all the fires burning in the southwest. The haze hovers just above the horizon combined with a mix of emission pollution. There are currently, 47 large fires that have burned 519,761 acres across the country, per the National Interagency Fire Center website. The haze gives everything a golden glow to it. Today is expected to be in the 90’s. Be safe, stay cool!

Retired. Having fun shooting Fujifilm cameras. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku. Have a love for fountain pens.

It’s probably going to be an especially tough year for wildfires if the forecasts hold. It also appears that “water wars” could become a reality for the southwestern population centers and farmers. I’m afraid a lot of sadness and heartache for many lies ahead. There’s no easy answer now to these problems, and I feel sorry for the victims. IMHO, some of this hardship could/should have been avoided with better planning decades ago. But isn’t that true of so many things. 😧

Sorry for being such a downer, Monte.

I feel along the same lines. I also am of the mindset that our lack of respect for nature and its power, along with our arrogance that we can control nature, has led us to this point. It seems that many of us live apart from nature and therefore do not see ourselves as part of nature. Yes, we have placed ourselves in this situation. And, many who have not planned well will not be the true victims. We must change our way of thinking and living. I’m sorry, but we do not need retirement communities with three 18 hole golf courses in the desert. I could go on….
