Practicing the practice

Practicing her pencil drawings

I know the importance of highly trained awareness of the “moment” and the immediate and intuitive response of the photographer. It should be obvious to all that photographers whose images possess character and quality have attained them only by continued practice and total dedication to the medium. –

Ansel Adams

Last week I posted an image of a young artist practicing his craft at a local coffee shop. Yesterday afternoon I  took this image of a young lady practicing her craft at the same coffee shop. What is interesting about this young lady is she is drawing from a book that I assume to be a textbook. While the young man was creating the character from the muse within him. So, I practiced more courage and my photography by asking the young lady if I could take a photo of her practicing her practice. She agreed.

Retired. Having fun shooting Fujifilm cameras. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku. Have a love for fountain pens.

An interesting image of hands drawing hands. My attention also is drawn to the young ladies four silver rings…all somewhat delicate and with fine details. They could easily be a set or from the same designer. I feel there’s something about certain coffee shops and perhaps, in general, the coffee shop environments that seems to encourage and nourish ‘artsy’ endeavors and personal interactions. It seems you’ve found one where this is especially true.
Now I wonder what Ansel Adams would think of the world today when thousands of images are being taken and shared every minute of every day?
The heatwave has broken here…highs in the 70’s. Take care and keep on sharing.

Thank you for your insight. I also noticed the jewelry and even drawn to the fingers she wore them on. And, yes, that would be a great question to ask Mr. Adam’s.

The coffee shop is a regular hangout for me due to the clientele but the coffee is good also.
