Riding the Bus

Riding the Bus

I have been using the city’s bus system to save fuel and because it can offer interesting photo opportunities. The city also offers seniors a discount at $25 for a year of unlimited rides. I bought one and plan to use it. I don’t think it takes any longer unless I need to change busses. And, now that I’m not needing to get to the office by 8:00 I can just mosey along.

Today is also my youngest daughters birthday.  So, Happy Birthday,  Monica!

Retired. Having fun shooting Fujifilm cameras. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku. Have a love for fountain pens.

For $25 a year you’d be foolish to not take advantage. Our transit system here is so expensive it makes more sense to drive. Plus unless you are going downtown you pretty much “can’t get there from here.” Uber is also becoming quite popular because it’s cheap and reliable.

That is an incredible deal. Here it’s more like what Tom is saying. You’d be paying more than $25 for 10 trips let alone unlimited for a year. Still, as you say, public transport offers great photo ops and I see that you have already taken advantage of it. I hope that guy in the back didn’t give you any trouble 😉

The $25 is for seniors so the cost is higher for you younger gents. I’m not sure the standard cost. They also offer free rides for students with student IDs.
I talked to one man who works at the college. He commutes from the small town of Berthoud, maybe 20 miles. He claims using the bus system reduces his costs in half with no more parking fees and reduced fuel codts.

Wow! $25/month! I’d snag that. Here, as I am going back into the office, I’ll be paying $88/month for a pass for unlimited rides on the train or regular buses (not express). That’s $88/month, not year! I’ll have to see what’s more convenient for me, taking the train, or paying $90/month in parking and driving into town.

It’s good that you can mosey about and don’t have to be anywhere at a specific time.

Man you guys are lucky. Must be a benefit of economies of scale. It’s either that or we’re getting ripped off. I pay $160/month for public transport and if I decided to drive I would be up for around $400+ per month. And it’s not like our salaries are that much higher either. I think I need to apply for a green card 🙂

Well, Cedric. From my experience, your country is a bit expensive! 🙂 Also, prices in Charlotte, as compared to say, New York, are a lot more reasonable. I just can’t imagine spending $400/month + fuel, to get to work. That’s insane! You’d better hustle on to Charlotte, mate! 😀

It’s $25 a month or $154 a year for adults. They also have a discount pass for business which is $50 a year. We are not as large a city of have the coverage you probably do there in Charlotte. Another perk for being a tad older than you. 🙂

All of the expense conversation aside…Monte, I think you’re going to have some wonderful opportunities for some photography on the bus if you can keep it low key. Nice photo!
