Risky Work

Window Washing

As a flight attendant we usually cruise at an altitude from 25,000 to 36,000 feet. The office view from this tubicle is far better than the view from any of the cubicles I’ve worked in the past. However, I must admit to having a fear of heights. Let me explain. When standing on a second story balcony you will find me tightly gripping the guard rail. Yet, I do not have any problem looking out the window of an aircraft at 32,000 feet. So, while on a walk I noticed these two window washers as they swung back and forth to clean these windows. Sorry, but not me!

Retired. Having fun shooting Fujifilm cameras. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku. Have a love for fountain pens.

    I don’t believe I could ever be a window washer…unless I only did the ground floor. 😉

It made a great shot, Monte!

Excellent image. Interesting that you chose to give the workers plenty of space to emphasize the setting. I tend to come in a bit tighter on my subjects, but my father pioneer landscape photographer Philip Hyde usually did what you’ve done here. He gave the main subject of his photographs plenty of room for context.

You bring up an interesting perception, David, about my images. Now that I’m back along the Front Range I am realizing many of my landscape images do show plenty of room. So, I suppose I may carry some of that into the street images I shoot. Also, while in the Ohio Valley those grand scenics were hard to come by. I found myself focusing more on subjects closer to me such as people, flowers, street scenes.
