Simplicity

A simple flower, right? Scientifically we know it is a complicated living organism. I do not need to know, nor explain, all the complicated stuff about this flower so see it’s beauty. I can just open my eyes and enjoy with as many of me senses as I can. Why do we not live life like that? There are many who add complication to their lives with the mind set we must control life. Doesn’t work for me. What works for me is to live the day as it is, enjoy it and I will find it is not complicated. When tomorrow comes I will do it again and enjoy it. It’s pretty simple.

Retired. Having fun with photography. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku. Have a love for fountain pens.

No one controls life, that is certainly an illusion. Its not a hard trap to fall into, however; we grow as adults, and presume this means we need to be “smarter”, “richer”, “more productive”.

When I worked actively with children, I used to refuse to work with adults on my therapy caseload for this very reason–too many layers. Children had simple levels of understanding and didn’t complicate things. It took much longer with many adults to make progress. Its good to remember these things and step back when we need to do so.

Monte, beautiful flower, beautiful photo and beautiful sentiment on the art of living ones life.

I try and follow these same principles but there are often times when I get distracted by lifes complications. It happens without me even being aware of it until after the fact. These last two years I’ve been learning to let go–not easy for a control type person–but I’m getting there.
