    Always Remembered

    Xerochrysum bracteatum – Strawflower

    amazing gold and yellow
    their scent brightens the mood
    remembering you

Yesterday was the one year anniversary of my mother’s death. I found myself spending time in the afternoon at the CSU Trial Gardens which is not the norm for me. I love how we can be lead to do certain things or be in a certain place because of that whisper from deep within. These strawflowers excited me because of their amazingly gold and yellow colors. I know nothing about them so when I returned home I did some research on these lovely flowers. From the Farmers Almanac website I found that strawflowers represent someone or something that is “always remembered.” Maybe those who have died really haven’t left us but are always with us, whispering from deep within us.

    Wedding Vows

    Bride, groom and the girls.
    Bride, groom and the girls.

This past Tuesday I had a chance to take some photos of a couple who were renewing there 25th wedding anniversary vows. It was a small ceremony with a son, daughter-in-law, two grandchildren and the girls.  What a gift and honor for them to share this moment in their lives! This is the bride, groom and the girls. Thank you Linda and Jim! Hoping you get to celebrate many more.

“As the years pass, I am coming more and more to understand that it is the common, everyday blessings of our common everyday lives for which we should be particularly grateful. They are the things that fill our lives with comfort and our hearts with gladness — just the pure air to breathe and the strength to breath it; just warmth and shelter and home folks; just plain food that gives us strength; the bright sunshine on a cold day; and the cool breeze when the day is warm.”

    Happy Anniversary

    Family Photo - 1975?

Today is my parents 61st Wedding Anniversary. I feel I’ve been blessed with loving parents, but struggled with that idea in my early years. And at this time in life they are healthy and enjoying their retirement years. Happy Anniversary, mom and dad!

This is a family photo that I’m guessing was taken in the mid-70’s. From left to right: Sheree, Dad, Mom, Me, Marcee. My sister Marcee scanned this photo so we now have more than one archive of it. My parents are presently visiting Sheree in Colorado, catching up with some old friends and, last I heard, eating some homemade ice cream. I’ve included a couple more images if you’re interested in seeing them.
