    Morning bus ride

    Morning sunrise on the bus

I took this image on the bus ride the other morning. The sunrise was a pretty red and pink so I shot towards the east and included one of the riders. I like how it came out as it made it an abstract image. We have been cold ever since the Thanksgiving snowstorm that left us with 15 inches of snow. We’ve had a couple of days reach above 50 degrees but most days hoover around 40 degrees. Due to the cold and the amount of snow it is taking time to melt the snow, which is not the norm for Colorado. There are still piles of plowed snow along the campus that are still 6 feet tall. I confess I’m looking forward to warmer weather.

    Grateful

Sunset this past Friday evening before the storm moved in.

“Rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.” ― J.K. Rowling

Snow fell overnight Friday and into Saturday evening. Probably have over 3 inches. It has made for a wintery look and feel. I saw this image on the way home from the store Friday evening before the storm arrived. Actually had to turn around and go back to get a shot. Unfortunately by the time I turned around I’d lost some of the colors from when I first saw it. This is a time of the year for me to reflect on how much I have to be grateful for.

    I knew that….

Cold December morning Sunrise near my condo

This image was taken this morning as I walked to the bus stop. It is a wet area along Spring Creek with cattails and tall grass.  It is located behind the Walgreens and some apartments. When I first moved here almost 20 years ago I would see foxes, raccoons, deer and lots of birds in this area but not any more. We have disturbed them enough that they’ve moved to other areas.

I had my annual physical this morning. It was a year ago this month that I had my heart surgery and things seem to be fine. Doctor gave me a thumbs up on my blood work and my heart sounds good. His only suggestion for improvement was to lose some weight. The thing is I knew he was going to say that because he’s right. More walking and less sugars seems to be the suggested remedies. I knew that, too! I suppose that means no more chocolate eclairs. Sigh!

    A cold November morning

    Early morning frost

I took this yesterday morning on my way from the bus stop. I decided to take the bus to the coffee shop because I didn’t want to clean the frost off the car or find a parking spot and I need to exercise. On the way home I noticed the tailgaters were getting set up in the parking lot of the stadium for the CSU game this afternoon. Tables were getting setup and they even had some grills set up and smoke billing up. Brats? Not my game plan anymore on a cold November morning. Nope, prefer the warmth of a coffee shop and a mocha.

This is how to spend a cold winter morning.

    Cold Monday

My weather app said -8 degrees and my car said -1. Take your pick, they’re both too cold. Expecting a high of 28 degrees, that’s a positive but it will be cold again tonight. Just dropped my car off to have the oil changed and walked over to a favorite coffee shop. This is an image from 2009 and also has that cold feel. Stay warm or dry wherever you are.

    More Cold Ahead

    Frost in Rolland Moore Park

I took this image this past Monday around 10:00 am. I was standing in the parking lot of the Senior Center and looking out over the south edges of Rowland Moore park. When I awoke we had fog and this heavy frost settling in on everything. Quite interesting to watch the frost form on the trees. Nature sure does know how to create some wonderful scenes and with a purpose behind them.

It’s going to be cold the next 4-5 days, getting down to zero on Sunday night. Looks like winter is not ready to let go or spring is not yet to make it’s appearance. When looking at the national weather it looks like that is true for much of our nation.

Now typing this on a new MacBook Pro. I will write about the purchase a bit later as I get more familiar with it. When I looked up the receipt for my old MacBook, the purchase date was November of 2008. It paid for itself. I’m expecting this one to do the same! Now with this purchase you should see a slight improvement in my photography. 🙂
