Warmer days ahead

Snow and shadows

It has been cold the past few days. The 15 inch snowfall we had has not melted due to the cold temperatures. However, there is hope over this weekend as we could reach 50 degrees. I will not complain as there is major weather stuff happening all over the world that’s destroying peoples homes and massive amounts of land. It’s almost incomprehensible that almost 7 millions acres have burned in Australia.

Retired. Having fun with photography. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku. Have a love for fountain pens.

Reading your posts this time of the year makes me stop complaining about the “frigid” 30 degree temperatures around here! 😉

Yes, there are weird and devastating weather-related things happening around the world. It’s a frightening time, for sure. Hang in there and enjoy the quiet around campus for a few weeks!

I don’t know how many acres of land have burned over here as I’ve read vastly differing numbers from different sources but these fires were almost entirely started by people, by accident or on purpose, which is the saddest part of this disaster. We had one fire very close to us, as in 2-3 mile away which was contained though the smoke was (and remains) especially bad and has caused its own share of problems for many people. And it’s still not over, though I don’t think we will have a new record on our hands, that sits comfortably with the ’74 fires but that is no consolation. The smoke has made for spectacularly eerie sunsets watched each day by many, almost ritually in silence, perhaps weighing up the beauty of the scene against the devastating cause.
Enjoy your “warmer days” Monte, though 50°F sounds absolutely frigid to me. Christmas day is expected to be a pleasant 73°F with rain. And right now, for us, a wet Christmas would be our Christmas miracle.

I feel deeply for those who are suffering through these fires. Glad you and your family are safe as I did wonder about you. I do consider it a tragedy that these fires can be caused by people.
Oh my gosh, 73 degrees with rain! How are you gonna manage that? But the rain would be most welcomed!!!
