Woodcarving

Two of my dads carvings.
Two of my dads carvings.

This is two of my dads carvings. The first one is two hearts connected at their base and carved from one piece of wood, Birdseye Maple. The carvings in the background are small elephants with intertwined trunks. This is my dads, creative outlet and a great form of therapy.

Retired. Having fun shooting Fujifilm cameras. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku. Have a love for fountain pens.

Thank you, Ruth, and great to hear from you. I will pass along your favorable comments to him. I tried to send you a text message wishing you a happy birthday but the number I have is not correct. Hugs!

My Dad was also a woodcarver, and he prided himself on using hard wood. Birdseye is tough to carve!

Most of his pieces he gave away, but I still have a few of them. And I still have the tool chest with all of his knives. Not sure I’ll ever carve with them but they’re nice to have. Nice work, now let’s see yours! 😉

Hang on to those tools. Even though I’m not as gifted as my dad there is something special about picking up one of his handmade knives a carving. And, just maybe some voice will whisper inside and start you on a new passion.
