Writing

Morning Sunrise

“Writing is not just jotting down ideas. Often we say: “I don’t know what to write. I have no thoughts worth writing down.” But much good writing emerges from the process of writing itself. As we simply sit down in front of a sheet of paper and start to express in words what is on our minds or in our hearts, new ideas emerge, ideas that can surprise us and lead us to inner places we hardly knew were there. One of the most satisfying aspects of writing is that it can open in us deep wells of hidden treasures that are beautiful for us as well as for others to see.” – Henri Nouwen

Retired. Having fun shooting Fujifilm cameras. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku. Have a love for fountain pens.

Interesting quote, Monte. I find that prior to sitting down to write, I have all these thoughts in my mind of what to write – then, when I actually start, it’s as if a different brain takes over and all this other stuff comes out. Seldom can I put into words the thoughts in my head.

    Great image for the post!

The same thing happens to me. I have all these great ideas to write down while I’m driving or in a place where I can’t jot down notes. Sitting in front of a monitor will cause my head to empty of most thoughts. Thanks, John!

Writing is such a wonderful way to express oneself. I don’t do it daily, but I do have a few days in a row, every now and again. 🙂
