… and never looks away

A small part of our amazing winter wonderland this morning

I stand in the midst of creation’s wheel
And watch in wonder the quiet majesty of its turning.
We are in the care of a love without limit or definition
Under the protection of a love that never looks away.

Steven Charleston

It is Monday morning and we have fresh snow on the ground, clear blue skies and sunshine. I am grateful to be a witness to this beautiful winter wonderland. Today I am missing my mother who would have been 92 today. I also can say I miss her with a love that is without limits. Not sure I would have said that as a teenager which makes me grateful for my growing maturity. I’m also grateful for the belief that there is a caring love (and I speak of love as an action word, not a noun) that never looks away. I have experienced such love in family, friends and nature. So, I pray today for the gift of sharing with a love I’ve experienced which is without limits and never looks away.

Retired. Having fun shooting Fujifilm cameras. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku. Have a love for fountain pens.

Loving your mother as you do is a testament to her and you. As we grow older, with an emphasis on growth, we come to understand and appreciate those challenges and sacrifices our parents made in love for us. There is also an element of appreciation that we had/have such parents in the first place, as so many are not so lucky. Both my parents have passed away, but I carry them with me in my memories and constant thoughts. I’m already older than my father was when he died, and to be honest, that feels a little strange to me. You still have a way to go until you cross into that territory.

They say that a man can love different women during his life, but his love for his mother is timeless. We should all be so lucky! Stay warm.

Another thought provoking comment, my friend. I’m in agreement you, “but I carry them with me in my memories and constant thoughts.” I suspect that’s true for the rest of our lives. I believe the love I have for my sisters is just as true, even though they may grate against me at times and I against them. We are lucky!
