I’m hoping you are not getting tired of seeing these sunrise images from Pineridge Natural Area. Took this one a week ago. I shoot raw so all my images are in a 3:2 format. Almost everything I post is cropped to a 16:9 format, especially if it’s a landscape. I seem to be drawn to it. I therefore find myself framing my images with knowledge that I will probably crop the image when processing.

Retired. Having fun shooting Fujifilm cameras. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku. Have a love for fountain pens.

While part of me thinks – especially knowing the temperatures you are dealing with – “better you than me” I envy you for having such a great place to go on those cold mornings and the dedication to go there. You’ll know we’re getting tired of them when you stop getting comments. 🙂

For some reason I find the 2:1 ratio to be comfortable for me when I do panorama crops. The 16:9 is very close but I am drawn toward the symmetry of even numbers. For vertical compositions I often revert to the 4:5 format. I’ll willingly accept whatever label that bestows on me. 😉

I’m not sure why I go there when it’s so cold but I find myself comfortable for a good 45 minutes before I begin to get too cold. I’m able to journal during that time. Seems to be good for my soul and I usually have the place to myself.

I must admit I’m just not drawn to the vertical images so you will not find many on this blog. Maybe more when doing portraits. We are cold again today. Stay warm!
