In the Silence…

Diffused morning shadows from overcast skies

With prayer and meditation I begin this day
and words from within are heard in this silence.

I sit at my desk looking out the window
and a gust of wind intrudes in the silence.

Sunlight begins to peek through grey clouds
now shadows move across the wall in silence.

I open a book to a favorite page
where words speak to me but in silence.

My pen moves across the blank page
and I notice, there’s much to hear in silence.

Retired. Having fun shooting Fujifilm cameras. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku. Have a love for fountain pens.

A poet and a photographer! A hat tip to you Monte. Lovely words for sure. I was surprised by the third stanza as it reminded me of something I wrote so many years ago. It was a poor attempt at a Haiku back when I was so much younger than today and not wise enough to know that I sucked at poetry. Of any kind 🙂 Surprisingly I found it in OneNote. Forgive me for sharing it here but trust me, it can only make your words seem even better than they already are.
    Sunlight in the sky
    Shadows dance across her face
    All done in silence

Thank you for your kind words. This is my first attempt at this style of writing. I was not sure what it was called and snooped around on the internet for a bit of understanding. I was told recently anyone who journals is practicing to be a poet. I find it interesting that the stanzas are so similar. 🙂

I enjoyed this Monte. I think you should definitely keep at it – especially if it is this nice on a first try. It would also make for some great material in the book you intend to do.

Thanks for the compliments. You seem good at giving them out. I do plan on trying it more in a formal way. Who knows, maybe I’ll post some more attempts on here.
