It finally happened….

On a wet and rainy day

We have been spoiled the past three days with sunshine and temperatures in the 50’s. I even sat outside in the sun the past two days and journaled. I was amazed at the difference in our world when the constant use of machines is cut in half. I could sit there and here the wind blowing through the branches with perfect clarity since there was almost not background traffic noise. Many do not know what true silence is.

This morning is overcast and much cooler. Rain mixed with snow is predicted for later this afternoon and evening. Already have one walk in and plan on a second early this afternoon.

Just to let you know I did attack that pile of stuff in the corner yesterday and pretty much have it looking good. Threw a lot of it away. Yes, it finally happened.

Retired. Having fun shooting Fujifilm cameras. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku. Have a love for fountain pens.

Sunshine, silence and aloneness, three of my favourite things 🙂
So true, that silence is a difficult thing to find these days. In fact, it’s difficult to even find a place that does not contain engine sounds of some sorts, with nothing but nature sounds.
Many years ago, on Mt Shasta in California, my wife and I were cross-country skiing. No one was around we were alone. At some point we came to a stop, neither of us talked, taking in the scenery, and at that moment, I was completely moved by the sheer, acute silence that enveloped us. If I’d heard of anechoic chambers back then, I would have believed I was in one. I had never experienced anything quite so intense. It was unnerving and uplifting at the same time. One of my favourite memories 🙂

I have a similar experience while in the Colorado Plateau about 4 years ago. No wind, nothing. Almost took me breath away. Thanks for sharing that, Cedric. Right now it is lightly snowing. Go figure.
