The Dark Heart Coffee Bar

I met up with my sister on Sunday morning and tried out a coffee shop we had not visited before, call the Dark Heart Coffee Bar. There was a distinct difference in coffee flavor and probably because they use a coffee roaster out of Portland, Oregon neither one of us had heard of before, Coava Coffee Roasters. We both thought is was on the pricey side but we are also tight with our money, so we are not likely to make them a daily coffee shop but a special occasion place. It’s ambiance was light and airy, with lots of window light. The decor was nicely done, had plenty of room and did not feel crowded due to its open feeling. All the seating was located along the walls which was one continuous bench with separate tables and chairs, except the small high top table this young lady was sitting at. A big plus for me was the quiet, even though they were busy. They also had a nice porch area that would be enjoyable during the warmer weather. I will go back!

Retired. Having fun shooting Fujifilm cameras. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku. Have a love for fountain pens.

Kathy & I go out of our way to find restaurants like that, but aren’t as good at seeking out the coffee places. Kathy doesn’t drink coffee (but I love her anyway!) and we’re generally looking for breakfast. We do have a couple of favorites in towns that we visit regularly. In fact one of the places roasts their own coffee, so every time we visit I have to buy a few bags of beans to grind at home.

Quiet is a premium these days, so paying a little extra for the lattes on occasion might we worth it!

I used to also look for the small restaurants but money is much more of a premium for me, so decisions must be made. 🙂 I’m glad you still love her and she will remain my friend! Give her a hug for me!

I was quite surprised myself. There were three baristas working. Each had at least a dozen tattoos. Must have been a requirement. Seemed most customers also had tattoos. That was not a requirement. I loved brightness as it let you see all the tattoos.

Looks very cool. I do like finding places like this. Especially quiet places but I haven’t found one of those in a very long time. There’s talk that the municipal libraries, here where I live, might start selling coffee, now that would be my kind of perfect: coffee, quiet and books! 🙂

Thanks, Cedric. I can easily see you looking for such places. I also find some interesting and local art in many of these places. One reason I go to the campus for coffee is because one of those coffee shops is in Morgan Library. We also have a small coffee stand at the public library which is shared with the local junior college. Both places provide those three gifts you mention: coffee, quiet and books. And, I’ll add art to the list.
